Look for Backgrounds that Complement your Subject
Good composition gives your images impact. It should draw the viewer in & lead them through your image. It is not a set of rules, although it's important to understand the guidelines so that a decision to "stray" comes from a position of understanding & artistic intention.
Compose in-camera when possible!
