Photograph Spring in the Pacific Northwest

Join Our 2027 Workshop!

Andrea and I are thrilled to share this unique and inspiring photography workshop in the Skagit Valley and Seattle area from April 11 – 16, 2027, and we’d love to have you join us!

This flower-filled journey will take place during peak tulip season and is designed for photographers who want to capture not only iconic scenes, but also hidden beauty, vibrant color, and artistic abstraction.

What to Expect:

- Photograph the vibrant tulips and spring flowers in the spectacular Roozengaarde Display Garden. The Roozen family brought their Dutch farming legacy to the Pacific Northwest in 1947 and has since grown to become North America's largest bulb grower.

- Excursions to Seattle and South Sound area gardens where you will experience spring flowers that may include delicate muscari, fritilaries, fiddleheads, rhododendrons, and flowering trees.

-

- A photo review and editing session in a private conference room – a chance to reflect on your work, get feedback, and learn from each other.

- And a photo-walk through Pike's Place Market and surrounding icons, such as the Museum of Pop where you will apply the skills taught by Andrea either using a smartphone or your camera.

We’ll begin with a meet & greet over dinner on April 11 near our base hotel. This relaxed evening will be a chance to meet each other, go over the plan, and get ready to transform your dreams into reality in the days ahead.

We are looking forward to sharing this colorful, creative adventure with you!

Warmly,

Jackie & Andrea

Suggested Gear & Other Info...

Camera:  For the best experience and to set yourself up for creating beautiful images participants are encouraged to become comfortable and familiar with equipment before the tour. If you have any new gear, please take some time to get acquainted with it beforehand.

Lenses:  Macro lenses (90 - 100mm equivalent) and a wide angle zoom (24 - 70mm) (or smartphone) for landscape or wider scenic images. A telephoto zoom (100 - 500mm equivalent) will allow you to photograph the flowers from a distance or at a fairly close range. This reach is ideal for shoot-throughs. If you bring Lensbabies, make sure you have macro filters or a small extension tube if you are on a full frame body.

Tripods/Monopods: A sturdy tripod will be helpful if you need assistance holding your camera for a long period of time. Also, in the event of rain, we will need tripods for indoor sessions.

Software: Jackie will share post-processing techniques with you and will offer feedback on your images throughout the workshop. Andrea will be teaching how to look at the world of flowers from alternative perspectives AND will also share a program on how to creatively photograph the urban life and buildings in Seattle.

Pre & Post-workshop Zooms: An overview and orientation will be held online prior to the workshop. Post-workshop Zoom will consist of image reviews of fully edited images, although feedback will be shared in the field and in a review session during the workshop.
